Dr. Brandon A. Griffin

Dr. Brandon A. Griffin

Dr. Brandon A. Griffin is an Assistant Professor of Management and the Director of the Master of Science in Management (MSM) program at 51成人吃瓜. He earned his Ph.D. in Management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and both his MBA and Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Utah Valley University. Before joining Troy, he worked in logistics and property management. His research focuses on leadership, workplace perception, group dynamics, and politics at work.
Dr. Rodger Morrison

Dr. Rodger Morrison

Dr. Rodger Morrison, Associate Professor of Strategy, holds a Ph.D. in management from Auburn University. He earned an MBA, an MSHRM and a bachelor's in resources management from 51成人吃瓜. He also has an undergraduate degree in avionics systems from the Air Force. Dr. Morrison has professional management experience in the military, textile and automotive manufacturing industries, and has published on technology management, strategy, research methods, equity theory and more.
Dr. Jing Hua

Dr. Jing Hua

Dr. Jing Hua obtained a Ph.D. in Management from Auburn University, an M.S. in Finance from Northwest A & F University in China, and a B.A. in English from Harbin Institute of Technology in China. She primarily teaches Leadership and Change and MSM classes at Troy. Dr. Hua is a member of the Academy of Management.

Dr. Christine Newman

Dr. Christine Newman earned her Ph.D. in Business, Management from Auburn University, following the completion of an MBA with a Finance Concentration, B.S., Management, and B.S., Finance from Auburn University Montgomery. Prior to joining academia, she worked as a civilian financial analyst for the US Air Force.
Dr. Guilin (Serena) Zhang

Dr. Guilin (Serena) Zhang

Dr. Guilin Zhang earned her Ph.D. in Strategic Management and Organization with a concentration in Organizational Behavior from the University of Alberta. Dr. Zhang has taught a variety of courses in management and human resource management at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Master of Science in Management

Students must choose one primary concentration and one secondary concentration, or they may choose the Artificial Intelligence option, to complete the MSM degree. No matter which path you select, you will gain the knowledge and skills to apply concepts, theories, and practices in real-world settings.

Primary Concentration Options

Choose one of the following business concentrations as your primary area of focus:
Business Exchange
Gain a global outlook on business through the business exchange concentration, where you'll examine international markets, economic patterns and financial systems. With coursework in graduate-level economics and finance, this concentration builds a strong foundation in data-driven decision-making and financial strategy.

Cybersecurity Management
For those drawn to technology and cybersecurity, the cybersecurity management concentration offers focused training in security operations, asset management and cyber risk awareness. You'll build a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles while developing the skills to manage and protect digital assets across industries.

General Business
The general business concentration within the MSM program offers a flexible path for exploring a range of business disciplines. Through three approved graduate business courses, you can shape your studies to align with your professional interests. This concentration strengthens your foundation across key business functions while enhancing your strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Health Services Management
The concentration in health services management equips you with essential knowledge of healthcare operations, economics and strategic planning. Dive into courses that explore how financial systems and organizational structures impact the delivery of care. Graduates emerge ready to lead effectively in a sector that demands both business acumen and a deep understanding of healthcare challenges.

Human Resource Management
Build strategic talent management skills, foster a strong workplace culture and lead effective teams through the MSM human resource management concentration. This program integrates advanced business concepts with focused studies in employment law, staffing and employee development. Leadership

The MSM leadership concentration emphasizes ethical decision-making, motivation and strategies for leading both remote and in-person teams. Project Management

Prepare for project management jobs with great diversity and international options with this popular concentration. You'll be hands-on with Microsoft Project, the most widely used project management software. You'll create several projects, including one where you combine your background with your new project management skills. Your final course provides in-depth coverage of The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), a detailed guide of project management best practices developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI). While it's not required, you'll be prepared to take either the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exams administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Choose one additional concentration to complement your primary choice. You may select either: an additional business concentration (from the list above, excluding your primary) or an interdisciplinary option from the list below.
International Relations
Explore the complexities of global diplomacy and cooperation through the international relations concentration. Through courses covering international law, political economy, diplomacy, intercultural communication and key theories, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of global affairs. Graduates will be equipped to analyze international challenges and operate effectively in complex global settings. 
Public Administration
Prepare to oversee personnel, finances and operations within the public sector with the public administration concentration. This program explores essential topics such as economics, strategic planning, governmental budgeting, administrative law and organizational leadership. Graduates will possess the skills to implement public administration strategies across multiple industries and contexts. 
Sport Management
Turn your passion for sports into a professional path with the MSM concentration in sport management. This concentration integrates core management principles with industry-focused courses such as sport marketing, applied sport analytics and the foundations of sport management. You'll graduate ready to take on leadership roles in collegiate athletics, professional sports organizations and beyond. 
Strategic Communication

What is an MSM degree?
An MSM degree is a Master of Science in Management degree. Through it, you can gain knowledge and skills for management jobs and other leadership positions.
Is a master's in management worth it?
Absolutely. With an MSM degree from 51成人吃瓜, you'll build on your bachelor's degree with advanced business skills and in-depth knowledge in a concentration of your choice, including Leadership, Human Resource Management, Cybersecurity Management, Health Services Management, Artificial Intelligence, Business Exchange, or General Business. This graduate degree provides the credential you need to advance or change your career and expand your earning potential.
Do you allow transfer credits in the management program?
A maximum of two courses (six semester hours) taken at another AACSB-accredited institution, each with a 鈥淏鈥 grade or better, may be applied toward the degree. This is not automatic or guaranteed. 51成人吃瓜's Free in 48 transfer credit equivalency review will show you how many credits you can transfer to 51成人吃瓜 鈥 and which courses they will count towards. Transfer credit requests from institutions not holding AACSB accreditation will be reviewed upon submission to the appropriate business faculty or administrators, with final college approval of transfer credit being made by the Dean of the Sorrell College of Business.

When can I enter the master's in management program?
The management program has rolling admission, so you can apply at any time and start during the first term after you're admitted. Terms start in August, October, January and March each year. Management courses are delivered online in five, nine-week terms over the academic year.
What are the admission requirements for the MSM degree?

Is a thesis or comprehensive exam required to earn a master's in management?
The master's in management program does not require a thesis or comprehensive exam. However, the capstone course (MSM 6650-Strategic Management) does include a final exam covering the primary topic areas from courses throughout the program.
How long does it take to complete the master's in management program?
You must complete 10 courses (30 hours). The time it will take you to complete the management program varies depending on your schedule and how many courses you complete each term. It is possible to complete the program in one year by taking two courses per term. The typical time to completion, however, is between one and two years.
