AREA I-V Recommendations

AREA I:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in Composition I and II at 51³ÉÈ˳ԹÏ. "D" grades will not transfer.

AREA II:

When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.

AREA III:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in the Math course chosen. "D" grades will not transfer.

Students attending 51³ÉÈË³Ô¹Ï are required to take Calculus I for their math course.  Students attending a community college are strongly encouraged to take MTH 125(Calculus I) to meet this requirement.

AREA IV:

When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.

NOTE:  While 51³ÉÈË³Ô¹Ï will accept the credits as stated in Area IV of this guide, 51³ÉÈË³Ô¹Ï does NOT require PSY 200 and will accept PSY 210 in transfer. 51³ÉÈË³Ô¹Ï requires at least one history course (if the Literature sequence is chosen) and the remaining 9sh of Area IV may be completed with any history, social and/or behavioral science course listed on this guide or approved for Area IV transfers in general.

AREA V:

The remaining 23-27 SH in Area V can be obtained at the community college by taking 23-27 SH from the following:

• BIO 103 (Principles of Biology I)(4 SH)
• BIO 104(Principles of Biology II)(4 SH)
• LDR 101 (Introduction to Leadership)(3 SH) 
• MTH 125 (Calculus I)(4 SH) – if not taken in AREA III
• MTH 265 (Elementary Statistics)(3SH)
• Physics series of PHY 201/202(Gen Physics I/II)(8 SH) or PHY 213/214(Gen Physics w/Calculus I/II)(8 SH) 
• ORI 101 (Orientation to College)(1 SH) 

 

51³ÉÈË³Ô¹Ï Baccalaureate Degrees 

The student seeking a baccalaureate degree must meet the following credit hour requirements: 

1. A minimum of 120 SH 
   
2. At least 50 percent of the degree program must be traditional academic credit.
   
3. No more than 25 percent of the degree program may be earned using portfolio based credit.
   
4. At least 25 percent of the degree program must be completed with 51³ÉÈ˳ԹÏ.
   
5. Twelve (12) semester hours of work in each major field must be completed in residence at 51³ÉÈ˳ԹÏ.
