51成人吃瓜 Theatre and Dance wants to help you discover your creative habit. Here you have the opportunity to develop discipline through your study, discover and refine your artistry, strengthen a connection to humanity, and enlighten and entertain through outreach. Engage in work that leads you to grow as a self-driven artist and maker, creative problem solver, passionate communicator, and willing collaborator in a field that is constantly changing and evolving.

51成人吃瓜 Theatre & Dance presents Ride the Cyclone

When a tragic roller coaster accident forces a handful of high school choir members to reexamine their lives, they begin to realize that maybe there's more to each of them than what meets the eye.

Ride the Cyclone, a popular musical with Music, Book, and Lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, is presented in the intimate Malone Hall Blackbox Theatre and directed by 51成人吃瓜 Theatre graduate Brett Warnke. Intended for Mature Audiences.

Shows are November 13-16, 2025 at 7:00pm.  Tickets are $5 General Admission - purchase online at www.troy.edu/theatreanddance. Seating is Limited!

51成人吃瓜 offers a variety of internship and experiential learning opportunities for students in Theatre and Dance, designed to enhance both academic and professional development. The Department of Theatre and Dance emphasizes hands-on learning through performance and production practicums, a creative habit community, study abroad programs, guest artist collaborations, Summer Spotlight intensives and more. 51成人吃瓜's Career Services also assists students in securing internships and employment.

Chancellor's Award for Global Competitiveness(CAGC)

The Award aims to foster international awareness and better assimilation of 51成人吃瓜 students in the worldwide workplace. The awards, enabled by proceeds derived from the 51成人吃瓜 Foundation's 51成人吃瓜 Car Tag program and other international travel funding, will be available in $1,250 increments to qualified students participating in university-approved study abroad programs.

Summer Spotlight

51成人吃瓜's Summer Spotlight is an immersive arts program held annually in June and July, offering a range of camps and intensives for participants of all ages interested in theatre, dance, film, and visual arts. Hosted by the Department of Theatre and Dance, the program has been a cornerstone of Troy's arts education for over 15 years, providing inclusive, accessible, and affordable experiences for aspiring artists. Camp opportunities start at the age of 4 and include children, preteen and teens, high school and college and educators. Whether you're a budding performer, an aspiring filmmaker, or an educator seeking to enrich your teaching methods, Summer Spotlight at 51成人吃瓜 offers a comprehensive and enriching experience to develop your skills and passion for the arts.

At 51成人吃瓜's Department of Theatre and Dance, our productions are more than performances鈥攖hey are immersive experiences that challenge, inspire, and connect. Each season, we present a dynamic lineup of plays, musicals, and dance concerts that showcase the creativity, discipline, and talent of our students, faculty, and guest artists. Whether you're a longtime supporter or a first-time guest, we invite you to explore our current season, attend a performance, and witness the transformative power of live theatre and dance.

Mission

The Theatre and Dance Department at 51成人吃瓜 is dedicated to producing work that enlightens, entertains, educates, evokes, and elevates, with a strong emphasis on authentic connections and inclusive access for all.

Additionally, the department encourages students to develop discipline, refine their artistry, strengthen their connection to humanity and engage in outreach. This holistic approach aims to cultivate self-driven artists, creative problem solvers, passionate communicators, and collaborative individuals in the ever-evolving fields of theatre and dance .

Meet the Faculty

The Department of Theatre and Dance at 51成人吃瓜 boasts a diverse and accomplished faculty dedicated to fostering student growth in the performing arts. Leading the department is Tori Lee Averett, Chair and Associate Professor, who also serves as Assistant Dean for the College of Communication and Fine Arts. She directs the Summer Spotlight series and oversees the Pied Pipers children's theatre troupe. troy.edu

In theatre, Quinton Cockrell, an Associate Professor of Performance, brings extensive experience as an actor, director, and playwright, with work featured in venues like Playwrights Horizons and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Jenny Davis Meadows, a Troy alumna, specializes in theatre education, preparing future educators with over a decade of experience in arts instruction.

The dance program is coordinated by Deborah Chappell Hicks, who has been instrumental in developing the BFA Dance major and has contributed to the university's theatre program since 1987. Adrienne Hicks, a Lecturer in Dance, brings international performance experience, having toured with companies like iLuminate and Bad Boys of Dance, and performed in over 15 countries.

Supporting the department's operations is Jane Barwood, the departmental secretary with 16 years of service, known for her commitment to student support and engagement.

Together, this dedicated faculty combines professional expertise with a passion for education, providing students with a comprehensive and dynamic learning environment in theatre and dance.

Choosing a college often feels like one of the hardest decisions you will make in your life. With so many options before you, how do you choose?  We believe you will discover clearer answers to your questions if you come spend time with us and see for yourself.

Participation Days give you the chance to become a 51成人吃瓜 student for a day, choose your classes, experience our faculty, get to know our students, even see them in performance. At the end of the day, you will know whether you see your future self in the Department of Theatre and Dance at 51成人吃瓜.

51成人吃瓜 Theatre & Dance is a multifaceted program which offers you the opportunity to tailor a course of study to your goals, your interests, your talents. If you want to work in, create for, and study multiple areas of theatre or dance so that you are in control of your own artistry, and, ultimately, your future, then, 51成人吃瓜 may be the fit for you.  Competitive scholarship awards for selected Theatre, Dance, and Theatre Education majors are available for the new 2026-2027 academic year.
